Laser Physicist/Engineer

A senior to mid-level Laser Physicist/Engineer is needed to assist in the development of Alakai's laser based explosive detection systems. These systems consists of a variety of hardware subsystems (lasers, camera's, gimbals, motorized actuators, etc) all of which are required to perform over harsh environments of shock, vibration & temperature. The successful candidate will have demonstrated substantial technical innovation, discovery, initiative, problem solving, and both theoretical and hands-on technical skills. Past experience with both Solid State and Gas laser systems and MIL-Spec assurance & testing for military customers is desired. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Minimum Experience &
Responsibilities:
MS in Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 5 year's experience with laser systems
Experience in the design, simulation, testing, and analysis of Solid State & Excimer lasers.
Experience in the design, alignment and testing of Non-Linear Frequency Conversion techniques
Experience designing laser systems to survive MIL-STD-810G and other military shock & vib MIL-Spec's
Ability in interface with 3D CAD modeling software and FEA simulation packages for design analysis
Experience supporting new business development, proposal generation, and managing budgets and schedules
Ability to operate in a dynamic start-up environment.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Eligible for DoD Secret clearance
Desirable Experience &
Responsibilities:
PhD in a technical field or discipline with at least 10 years work experience
Track record of successfully identifying and resolving product issues during all phases of the product life cycle to include the design and production.
Experience supporting new business development and capture
