The Assistant Chief position is located at the CWBY VA Medical Center and reports to the Chief of Community Care. The selectee is accountable for the effective and efficient management and supervision (planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating) of clinical and administrative Staff within Community Care. The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Chief are to assist the VA Community Care (VACC) Service Chief with:
Interdisciplinary delivery of health care services for Veterans referred to Community Care providers. Contribute to the day-to-day coordination of clinical care management for VACC. Help strengthen our relationship with both our community and our Bay Pines providers. Demonstrates ability to build high-performing and interdisciplinary teams with complementary skills for maximum team success. Support process improvement opportunities in all dimensions of care:
Access. Quality of Care, Customer Service/Patient Satisfaction, and Utilization Management/Efficiency of Care. Monitor efficiency of consults processing, clinical reviews, care coordination, and scheduling. Participate in the selection of intradepartmental staff to ensure that the most qualified staff are recruited, trained, supervised, and retained. Participates in training and education of both intradepartmental staff and clinical staff. Ensures compliance with Mission Act and Community Care Guidelines policies, requirements, processes, and performance standards. Serves on important interdisciplinary boards and committees as appointed by the Medical Center Director. Provide coverage in the absence of VACC physicians, including the Chief. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Board Certification Knowledge and experience in VA Community Care and MISSION Act Possess 5-10 years of SUPERVISORY clinical experience. Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting (45 pounds and over); Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (up to 8 hours); Standing (up to 8 hours); Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Near vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4; Both eyes required; Depth perception; Ability to distinguish shades of color; Hearing aid (permitted).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
